Work in progress

I decided this year to share in a new way, I want to support the places that support artists, in real space.  I will share sections of the artwork or art in progress and once the work is published through an exhibition or publication, I may post the entire work. The Publication titled: Stone Canoe, published three of my artworks from the Pico del Corazón(diced heart) series.  In the entire series I combine media that surrounds me, natural and man made to create unique one of a kind sculptures . In this series my artworks are carved out of wood and various reclaimed objects are either embedded or added on them, this  allows me to combine my passion for the environment, painting and sculpture in a new and exciting way.

Bio:

Yolanda is a much-loved local contemporary Latina artist, who’s work is vibrant, bold and engaging. She works in series, combining medias to create energetic symbolic images which explore the emerging cultural icons and identity to create artwork that is inviting and accessible, as with her new series Animals/Animalitos, inspired by the farm animals around her and those “who own her”

A warm summer atmosphere of colors, domestic and exotic animals, and the imaginary world of my artwork invaded the Lower Link Gallery.  I love exhibiting in public spaces; it makes art available to a wide spectrum of spectators.
